BURGLAR ALARMS

If you're thinking of having a burglar alarm installed in you home or business in the Finchley area then we are here to help. Give Finchley Locksmiths us a call on 020 8446 4454for general advice or to arrange a convenient day and time to conduct a no-obligation home survey.

We will not expect an order there and then, no pressure selling or anything of that nature so you will not be under any obligation. We will listen to your requirements and concerns and provide relevant advice, we will not 'bamboozle' you with technical details, and explain in layman's terms what your system will be able to do and how simple it will be for you to use it to the maximum of it's capabilities.

We would then follow this up with a written quotation and a written summery of the installation. The extent of the system you choose depends upon your budget and the nature of valuables you wish to protect.

Insurers will frequently offer a discount on the cost of content insurance if you have a burglar alarm fitted by a company such as our preferred alarm partner you can be assured that the installer and the system will be certificated by the SSAIB.

It's important to note that the SSAIB is not a simple a trade association who recruit members for a fee! SSAIB is a Certification Body for the alarm industry. Certification Bodies do not have 'members'. Companies cannot simply join these organisations by paying a fee. SSAIB has rigorous standards of assessment that ensure quality and reliability, thus only reputable companies will be listed. Finchley Locksmiths are not themselves accredited by the SSAIB. We tend to focus our efforts on physical security. However in the interest of providing a more rounded security service to the good people of Finchley we have joined forces with an intruder alarm company who are fully accredited by the SSAIB.

DOMESTIC WIRELESS ALARMS

Only the finest equipment manufactured by either Scantronic or Visonic are used.

The control panel, detectors and bell box have two way radio communications, working on a DTI (department or Trade and Industry) approved frequency of 868MHz.T he control panel is mains voltage operated with a rechargeable battery back-up. Loosing mains power is never a problem, the battery back-up will continue to operate the system for up-to 14 hours or until the mains power is restored. The battery will be recharged back to capacity on restoring the mains power.

Every device on the system has its own power source. Each detector and bell box has its own long life lithium battery. The technology of the devices ensures a long battery life, typically 2 years for detectors and 3 years for bell boxes. If you're on a service agreement (maintenance agreement) with us we schedule battery changes over the coming years and low batteries will never become a problem. You may wish not to have your system serviced, in which case be sure to schedule battery changes. Should a battery run low, the control panel will display a battery low fault and the devices location.

Unlike DIY wireless alarms, this is a quality professional system, and will give many years of service.

Once your system is installed we recommend you have it maintained, this will reduce the potential for false alarms over the years.

The specifics of the servicing, maintenance and monitoring will be agreed with each client on a bespoke basis and detailed in your written quotation and specification.

We use alarm control equipment designed to be user friendly and easy to use. Our keypads have code or proximity fob operation. The single action proximity fob operation is used to set or unset the alarm. The operation is simple. When leaving the house present the proximity fob to the control panel or enter the user code and wait for the exit tone to start, leave the building via the designated exit route, when the (variable) exit time has elapsed the system will set and all detection devices will become active. Bedtime operation may vary depending on your particular system design. Disarming the system is achieved by presenting the proximity fob to the control panel or entering the user code.

DOMESTIC HARD-WIRED ALARMS

Hard-wired alarms, as the words suggest, operate by using cables between the alarm control panel and the systems peripherals, such as detection and warning devices. Garages and out buildings can be added to the system. If cabling to garages and out buildings is not practical within the limitations of cost, we use wireless equipment for this addition (called a hybrid system). Our alarms can have up to four levels of set although two is usual, allowing for a full set system and a part set system. The part set system is used when retiring to bed, automatically isolating any landing detectors. A site survey will determine the type of devices and where to locate them. Concealing cables is one of our priorities when installing alarms. Cable runs are assessed by the engineer before starting work and care is taken not to disrupt decor, or damage the fabric of the building. Our years of experience will result in a professional finish, albeit time consuming. However, we do recognise that concealing cables in some homes may not be practical, due to laminate flooring and other obstacles, this would be identified on the site survey and a wireless system would be recommended. We're here to help, give Finchley Locksmiths a call on 020 8446 4454for advice or telephone us to arrange a repair or upgrade. Our preferred SSAIB approved alarm contractor will carry out a site survey and provide you with a written quotation for the required works.

REPAIRS AND UPGADES TO EXISTING ALARMS

We offer a standard repair service which includes a system inspection and test. A written report (detailing work and tests carried out) is left with the customer.

Sometimes repairing an old system is not the answer and updating is the only solution. Updating the control panel, detectors and bell boxes, reusing the existing cables is a cost effective alternative to installing a complete new system. You may not have to consider a new alarm system, our repair or update services maybe just the answer. We're here to help, give Finchley Locksmiths a call on 020 8446 4454for advice or telephone us to arrange a repair or upgrade. Our preferred SSAIB approved alarm contractor will carry out a site survey and provide you with a written quotation for the required works. Don't persevere with a faulty alarm - the neighbours don't like it ! We have an excellent business ethic and do not engage in false or deceptive tactics. By using an SSAIB Certificated company, you are assured that our preferred SSAIB approved alarm contractor will have been subject to a range of relevant checks with respect to both technical competence and professional conduct.

BELLS ONLY?
MONITORED?
FIXED LINE SPEECH DIALLER?
GSM SPEECH DIALLER?

BELLS ONLY

When you alarm is triggered the external sounder will emit a loud audible sound designed to draw attention to the property. This loud audible sound is known as 'Audible Only' and also 'Bells Only' and is generally the most common option. If the alarm is triggered, an audible alarm sounds to alert you (or a neighbour) that an intruder has entered (or is trying to enter) the premises. There are no ongoing charges for this option.

MONITORED

When you alarm is triggered in addition to the external sounder noise an Alarm Receiving Centre will be alerted to the activation. They will then attempt to contact the key holders that you have registered and in some circumstance they will then contact the police. Monthly monitoring charges will apply.

FIXED LINE SPEECH DIALLER

A Speech Dialler is an automated device that is connected both to your alarm system and to your existing landline telephone line although a dedicated line is generally better. In addition to the external sounder noise, upon activation the speech dialler automatically dials pre-set telephone numbers of your key holder and alerts the recipient of the call to the alarm activation. No monthly charges apply but an increased installation cost will be charged.

GSM SPEECH DIALLER

A GSM Speech Dialler is an automated device that is connected both to your alarm system but used a mobile phone sim card rather than your existing landline telephone line. In addition to the external sounder noise, upon activation the speech dialler automatically dials pre-set telephone numbers of your key holder and alerts the recipient of the call to the alarm activation. Monthly charges apply to your sim provider and an increased installation cost will be charged.

It's important to have your alarm regularly checked and maintained. Without regular servicing how will you know that all facets of the system are in full working order?

With monitored system is it a mandatory requirement that the system is maintained. We offer a choice of maintenance contract that are all reasonable priced.
